Last updated: August 2026

These Terms govern your use of Openborough Pro (the “Service”), a data service that provides public New York City legislative records through a REST API and web dashboard. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. What the Service is

Openborough Pro aggregates public records — primarily the City Council's Legistar system — and serves them as structured data through a REST API: legislative matters, member votes, sponsors, and machine-generated summaries and translations.

2. Not legal advice; no guarantee of outcomes

The Service is provided for informational purposes only. Machine-generated summaries and translations are interpretations of public data — not legal advice or a substitute for professional counsel. Using the Service does not create an attorney-client relationship. You are responsible for independently verifying anything you rely on.

3. Data sources and accuracy

API responses are built from third-party and government data that may be incomplete, delayed, or contain errors. We keep records traceable to the official source so you can check them, but we do not warrant that any figure, status, or attribution is accurate or current.

4. Accounts and subscriptions

Paid features require a subscription. Fees are billed in advance and are non-refundable except where required by law. You can cancel at any time from your account settings; access continues through the end of the current billing period. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your credentials secure.

5. Acceptable use

You may use the API within your plan's request quota to build your own applications and research. You may not resell or redistribute the Service's dataset wholesale as a competing data product, share API keys between organizations, circumvent rate limits, or use the Service to harass any individual or in violation of applicable law.

6. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Openborough will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any decision made in reliance on the Service.

7. Changes and contact

We may update these Terms; material changes will be reflected by the date above. Questions? Contact us at hello@openborough.nyc.
