What is Openborough Pro?
Openborough Pro is a REST API over New York City Council data. It serves every bill and land-use matter, member-by-member votes, and sponsors — plus AI-generated summaries and translations — as clean JSON, so you can build on civic data without scraping it yourself.
Where does the data come from?
Public NYC records, primarily the City Council's Legistar system (matters, votes, and sponsors). The dataset is synced nightly, and every record is traceable back to the official source.
How do I get an API key?
Create a free account, then generate a key from the API Keys page in your dashboard. The free tier includes 100 requests per month — no credit card required.
What are the rate limits?
Quotas are monthly and depend on your plan — 100 requests on the free tier, and higher allowances on paid plans (see Pricing). When you hit your quota the API returns HTTP 429 until the next calendar month or an upgrade.
Which parts of the city do you cover?
All 51 New York City Council districts, with the underlying data refreshed nightly.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes — you can cancel anytime from your account settings, and your access continues through the end of the current billing period. Your keys keep working on the free tier afterward.
